A Taste of Europe Crepes brings traditional, healthy crepes to the community

The sound of mother and grandmother in the kitchen, the smell of fresh made crepes and the taste of its fillings melting in the mouth - these are the memories that motivated Romania-born Ella Meluta and her husband, Joseph to open their creperie, A Taste of Europe Crepes in Rochester Hills. “Growing up with crepes as a staple in our daily diet, I always wanted to share my love for them with others. I have been making crepes all my life and I’m positive everyone would enjoy having one (or two) at our creperie!” said Ella.

The creperie opened a few weeks ago, and despite a quiet opening, it already has a steady flow of regular customers coming in weekly! “I’m so happy that we already have some regulars coming in. We’re really new it’s really heartwarming to know that we’re welcomed in the community,” said Ella. She added that although crepes are European, customers from various cultures have come in and thoroughly enjoyed her crepes. “Crepes is a really healthy option, so really, it’s win-win for customers.”

With A Taste of Europe Crepes, you don’t need to travel all the way to Europe for authentic, home- style crepes. The creperie serves high quality, fresh food in a friendly, cozy environment. “All we do are crepes. Our crepes are made with fresh ingredients and made from scratch. The crepe mix is from an authentic Frech recipe used for making a crepe softer in the middle and crispier on the edges with a wonderful taste and texture. “Our mixes are Kosher certified and do not contain GMO ingredients, preservatives, soy products, and trans-fat. Gluten free crepes are also available,” said Joseph. The crepe griddles used are also genuine French made 16’’ diameter griddles (the ones you’ll find in creperies in Paris).

The menu is extensive with over 20 choices of sweet and savory crepes that combine European, American and Ella’s own recipes. The best selling breakfast crepe is the TBC, consisting of egg, cheddar, turkey, bacon, avocado, tomato, onion and Hollandese sauce. For a savory crepe favorite, try the Gyro, with a the filling of gyro meat, feta, onion, tomato, banana pepper and Tzatziki sauce. And if you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss out on the Royal Trinity, bananas, strawberries, Nutella, whipped cream, chocolate sauce and powdered sugar makes this sweet crepe…well, sweet!

So if you’re in the mood for a mouth-watering, authentic European crepe, head on to A Taste of Europe. They also have a private room available. The Melutas, who also own Salinair The Salt Room (a Halotherapy / salt treatment center) a few doors from the creperie, is excited about welcoming the community to A Taste of Europe Crepes and hope it will soon be a neighborhood g
